About the Author:

Josh Raskoff is the Author and Illustrator behind These Animals Hit The Slopes: An Alpine, Animal, Alphabet Book.

A California kid, I grew up skiing all over the north and south shores of Lake Tahoe in the Sierras. I studied Sports Management, through the Recreation, Parks, and Tourism major at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, where China Peak was the closest mountain for day trips between classes. I earned my Doctorate in Physical Therapy at New York Med, where I learned anatomy by drawing it in extreme detail... and learned to carve lines through ice, mostly in Vermont. I returned to the San Francisco Bay Area, the backside of a decade ago, to start a career in Sports Medicine (and subsequently get closer to a serious mountain range.) Shortly after returning, I married my wife Kelly, an avid snowboarder, at the top of Heavenly. And now I’ve got two boys learning to shred themselves.

The book was a passion project, inspired in part due to fatigue from reading aloud the tracked out, routine rhyming children's books. He wrote the poems in 2018 during paternity time after the birth of his first boy, Hudson. He illustrated, designed, and published the book independently in 2020, shortly after the birth of his second son, Quinn.
